Story
An intersection is a point where two lines or streets crossings.
The Brand
I love exercise and going to the gym. As a woman who wears a hijab, it can sometimes be difficult to find appropriate attire to wear to and from the gym or going on a walk or jog somewhere outdoors. I decided to create a design that is both comfy and appropriate, in my opinion, to wear to such places. I started marketing and selling these kinds of outfits and found that there were so many other women feeling the same thing that were extremely happy to finally find something they could wear and feel comfortable in. I later expanded my collection and started creating loungewear suitable for women wearing hijab. I love matching tracksuit sets, but they don’t always have the right fit to my liking, or the sweaters are only a certain length and the pants are a certain width. I dropped my first loungewear line and called it “Intersection,” where it had a variety of oversized pieces, including overcoats, sweatpants, sweatshirts, and even oversized t-shirts that you can easily style with a long-sleeve shirt underneath. Many people loved it. Which brings me to the reason I decided to officially have an online store specializing in inclusive “hijab-friendly” attire that will be very convenient to lots of women.
"Our Story"
Back Story
I consider myself a creative person, so I needed to step out of my comfort zone in order to express that side of me. So, one day I decided to give myself a little “self-confidence” test and went to work in an outfit I chose that I felt expressed myself. To my surprise I got so many compliments and it boosted my confidence.
I passed my test!
After that day I decided to never doubt or be self-conscious about expressing myselfhowever I like because I put myself through the hardest test and experienced something only I could have done for myself and I’m so thankful for that experience. I hope this back story inspires you to always do what you love and believe is true to you and never be afraid to show that to the world! Taking a step out of your comfort zone can really change how you see certain things, so do it for you.
Meaning behind the Caution Stripes
There was a coffee shop I use to always go to and there was construction going on across the road from it. Naturally there are big yellow and black striped blocks to restrict entry. I always caught myself looking at them. With time these stripes came to have great sentimental value to me. They helped construct who I was becoming. To me, they helped me realized that in order to become who I wanted to be, I needed to do some reconstruction. Its’ a whole process similar to renovation in my opinion, and it perfectly represents the transformation I went through
Updating my Instagram Layout
The beginning layout of when I first started out was not reflecting my personality or the thoughts and ideas I use to have. Also, I was currently switching from my old outfit styles to my new ones so I felt that it was fitting to also match my Instagram layout with the same creativity and direction I wanted to go.
I brought in the intersection lines and started posting them with a background of my favorite things/movies/shows after every 9 posts to show more of my personality which looked really cool. The intersections are there to always remind me of where I was and where I wanted to be. They remind me of the coffee shop I use to sit and look at the construction site that was being built. These intersection lines became a part of me. Now you know the story behind them and their significance to me!
